Speaker building

Many years ago I was an eager speaker builder. Now I have taken up this old hobby of mine and want to try single driver speakers. The presentation below is under development and there is more to come.

Backloaded horn speakers

Three years ago I visited New Zealand on my circumnavigation. I then decided to design a horn speaker to build as soon as I was back home. I knew that to sound well the speakers need to be big, and sqare boxes were out of question. The result, after lots of sketches and modelling with Hornresp, is a pair of backloaded horns with DFR8 drivers (modified version of the Fostex FE206E).

Big Vent Reflex speakers

Inspired by the Spawn Family on the Frugal-Horn web-site, and the Harvey BVR in particular, I decided to build a pair of speakers for use with my TV. The drivers are Fostex FX120, and the design is slightly modified to suit these.

The speakers sound surprisingly well, even compared to my big horns. Recently I designed a more slim version, which (according to Hornresp) performs even better.

A curved version with transparent side panels is planned, but so far not built.

Transmission Line speakers

My latest project is a pair of Second Generation MLTL from Jordan USA. Drivers are JX92S.
